NYC20 kicks off with excellent designs, strong attendance

The inaugural NYC20 - the 20th Century art and design fair in the tent at Lincoln Center - opened last night. Included in the 36 dealers are many showing for the first time in New York. Many of the items debuted simultaneously on 1stDibs, which is sponsoring the show.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
Chicago-based Converso has a pair of rare 1947 mahogany and cane chairs by Edward Wormley for Dunbar that adjust to three positions.

Glen Leroux, based in Westport, CT, focuses on mid-century decorative designers. He has this wonderful Karl Springer lacquered goatskin dining table (and a WMF ice bucket shown as a centerpiece).

A strong showing from top California dealers highlights the significance of this new show:
Patrick Dragonette, a prominent Haines expert and dealer in L.A, has a set of four c. 1950 Haines chairs in curly walnut and white leather from the estate of Jack Warner.

Reform Gallery is spotlighting Paul McCobb, whose executive furniture clearly influenced the Mad Men sets. This lamp is one of many stunning examples.
