A new exhibition at the Hauser & Wirth gallery is the first to spotlight work by Fausto Melotti, the late Italian sculptor, installation artist and poet who was known for his role in the development of midcentury European modernism. The exhibit, curated by Douglas Fogle, former chief curator at the Hammer Museum, covers 60 years of Melotti’s career, with drawings, ceramics and sculptures from the early 1930s through the mid-1980s, including the artist’s plaster bas-reliefs, terracotta Teatrini (Little Theaters) and trademark brass sculptures.
