Design leaders optimistic about design economy

AIGA survey results released today show cautious optimism in the design economy nationwide. The index of 96.13 is slightly lower than the last three quarters but comparable to pre-recession indices.
45% of design leaders believe they are more likely to invest in equipment purchases compared with the previous quarter, and 31% believe they are more likely to hire staff.
One in seven design leaders believe the design economy is weakening. 47% believe the design economy is stronger today than six months ago and 53% believe conditions will be even better in six months.
The quarterly index reports on conditions of the design economy through quarterly survey—questions ask design leaders to compare business conditions now compared with six months ago.
