AD names Shax Riegler executive editor

Architectural Digest has appointed Shax Riegler as executive editor, announced the magazine’s editor in chief, Margaret Russell, on Monday. He replaces Stephen Wallis, who will now serve as a contributing editor.

“Shax will be an enormous asset to our team,” Russell said. “He has a strong background in the worlds of architecture, design, art and culture, and I’m confident he will be an important partner as we continue to grow our digital and print audiences and make the AD brand even more inspiring and influential.”

Riegler was most recently content lead for the Home and Appliances group at Consumer Reports, where he oversaw the brand’s print, digital and video platforms. Before that, he served as HouseBeautiful executive editor, and he also held editorial positions at House & Garden, Martha Stewart Living, Travel + LeisureandVogue. Riegler has written for The Wall Street Journal, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, andThe Magazine Antiques; he is the author of Dish: 813 Colorful, Wonderful Dinner Plates (Artisan, 2011); and he is currently a Bard Graduate Center PhD candidate in decorative arts, design history and material culture.
