Interiors fair IMM Cologne has nominated 19 design students and graduates for Pure Talents Contest: Young Design 2016, an exhibit and contest recognizing innovation, and transformation, among emerging talent. Among the nominated projects: folding bathtubs composed of carbon fiber, light that can be carried in a collapsible basket, and a work area that transforms into a decorative object.

The projects will be exhibited from January 18 through 24, 2016, at the “Pure Talents” special exhibition.

Dick Spierenburg, IMM Cologne’s creative director, shares: “The Pure Talents Contest is not a trend-based event but a platform for young talent to present their highly individual solutions.… Mobility and versatility are qualities that designers are seeking to realize in their product ideas. But they’re also testing new approaches when working with natural structures, for example, when playing with wood grains or when a piece of cardboard furniture at once reveals its entirely unique material aesthetic and its natural origin, in the way the form of a stool reminds us of a tree stump.”
