Pantone’s Color of the Year 2016 has been announced, and the winner is actually two colors: Serenity and Rose Quartz.

Launching in tandem is a new Kravet fabric collaboration, a capsule collection that pairs fabrics in Pantone 15-3919 Serenity and Pantone 13-1520 Rose Quartz, pictured above.

This year’s colors were selected for the “reassurance and security” that they emit, reported the Pantone Color Institute. Each year, the Pantone Color of the Year influences product development and purchases throughout multiple industries. Kravet customers will be able to incorporate these colors into products immediately through Kravet showrooms and representatives as well as online. Other products in the Pantone colors are available through Eskayel and Crane & Canopy.

“This year’s Pantone Color of the Year encompasses several symbolic components that evoke a calm and serene feel,” said Jessica Dowling, head of Trade Services at Wayfair. “Not only for the first time are there two colors instead of one, but Rose Quartz and Serenity are, at first, unexpected choices that make one pause to think about why they were selected. Yet, when you evaluate these color choices, the meaning is quite deep. They symbolize both balance and opposition as each has historically been related to a specific gender.”

“The mixture of the two colors is a reflection of our shift in traditional views of gender roles to a more blended and balanced approach,” continued Dowling. “These colors are also a reminder of the whimsical innocence of childhood, when your outlook on life is more simple, full of optimism, and free from the complexity and complicated state of today’s world. These colors bring you to a desired state of harmony and peace. We can expect for these colors to be incorporated in decorative accents, such as pillows, vases and lamps.”
