Ethan Allen is expanding its upholstery manufacturing business in Mexico, via the addition of a $15 million, 300,000-square-foot plant. The new facility will be located next door to Ethan Allen’s existing 260,000-square-foot space in Guanajuato, Mexico. The plant produces fully upholstered pieces for the company's North American market and international markets, in addition to the majority of cut and sewn covers for the company's operations in Maiden, North Carolina.

“Our goal is to maintain strong upholstery manufacturing in North America, which we believe is a long-term competitive advantage that will allow us to advance our objectives of maintaining short order times and improving capacity to ship custom items more quickly, Ethan Allen Chairman and CEO Farooq Kathwari said. “We are pleased to continue to strengthen our vertically integrated structure from concept of idea, to engineering, to manufacturing, to retail and logistics.”

Construction will begin within the next month and production is set to begin within the next 18 to 24 months.
