An opening night cocktail party on July 25 marked the unveiling of this year’s Hampton Designer Showhouse. The rooms, decorated by the likes of Brian Patrick Flynn, Barbara Page Home, Elise Som Design Studio and Hagins & Mortimer Design, spotlighted trending colors and products, like the custom camouflage Fortuny fabric on Black & Poole’s game room sofa and the new tortoiseshell wallpaper by Celerie Kemble for Schumacher in Denise McGaha’s bedroom. EAL asked a number of experts for their favorite finds and product picks.

Denise McGaha's master bedroom
Stylebeat blog author Marisa Marcantonio names her top three choices: “The Neo wing chair in Robert Brown's room, covered in a classic Brunschwig zebra print that never goes out of style; the chandelier in Black & Poole’s game room, for its organic quality—so sculptural in metal; and the rattan chaises from Frontgate in the outdoor room by Madcap Cottage. They had a total 1960s resort vibe.” Designer Young Huh shares, "I loved Brian Patrick Flynn's pink room. It was so cheerful and stylish and made me feel excited to be in it. The pink Thibaut grass cloth is something I would love to use in the future; it was such a snappy, crisp color. I loved how Brian paired the black and white Duralee Kasama cabinet in his room with the Sally King Benedict painting above it."

Jason Oliver Nixon, of Madcap Cottage, says: “Showhouses always have bumps in the road, and those unexpected hiccups can sometimes lead to magic. Case in point: The metal base to the Bacchus Hand-Painted Dining Tabletop from Frontgate never materialized, so we used the Painted Elephant Umbrella Table as the table base on the Madcap Cottage-designed covered porch. This proved serendipitous and was a stunning choice. The elephant perfectly complemented the tabletop and added just the right dash of whimsy. We love the mix of vintage paintings and contemporary photography hung salon-style by Denise McGaha in her terrific, chic and smart bedroom. Our delightful neighbor Marlaina Teich crafted a luscious and cooling kitchen packed with aplomb. We especially loved her Beacon Hill–crafted Samurai Bloom window treatments in peacock blue with gold accents.”

Madcap Cottage's patio
Teich, in turn, commended the outdoor patio. "I love the fun vibe that these two gents [of Madcap Cottage] created using Frontgate decor. The saturated colors of the Pagoda lanterns and the Serino painted planters bring a fresh twist in an unexpected way and are even more exciting when grouped in multiples." Teich also admired Keith Baltimore's master bath. "Keith Baltimore took a huge, white space and made it glam and organic with a stunning white and silver metallic cork wallcovering by Phillip Jeffries. The main area of the space is covered in Phillip Jeffries' brand-new Jack’s Jungle: white and silver metallic cork printed with a large-scale, split-leaf philodendron."

Black & Poole's game room
McGaha shares, “My favorite products included the Grohe faucet in the kitchen designed by Marlena Teich that offers not only filtered water but also sparkling water, straight from the tap. I spend so much buying sparkling water for my family, since it’s our alternative to soda and flavored drinks for our children and this would be the perfect solution for our kitchen.”

Marlaina Teich's kitchen
Designer Diane Guariglia of Dyfari Interiors, who transformed the master bedroom, named a number of new products used in her room—tortoise shells, certain fabrics and chairs, and a ruffled mirror—for their innovative texture. “I love texture and add it everywhere I can! I incorporated three-dimensional art throughout the space to bring another element to the walls,” she explains. “The beaded ruffled mirror, tortoise shells, and embroidered fabric, with raffia and seashells, helped me to achieve that. I chose the chairs because of their sleek contemporary design and beautiful wood grain.”
