Dwell magazine will deliver two special programs at this year’s NYCDxW: an up-close-and-personal view into a selection of enviable Brooklyn homes with Brooklyn Home Tours, offered on May 9 in conjunction with BKLYN Designs, and a meet-and-greet with those homes’ architects at Meet the Architects Night, on May 7 from 7p.m. to 9 p.m.

The five featured homes include architect Alex Gil's Carved Duplex, a 19th-century Williamsburg townhouse, which features a 750-square-foot roof addition; the Richards Street House in Red Hook, which was conceived and built from the ground up by a group of contractors and architects of MADE, and the Gowanus House, an otherwise ordinary three-story brownstone that conceals a fantastical interior life within. The tour also includes plenty of local-approved pit stops, from BBQ at Hometown Barbeque in Red Hook and ice cream at Prospect Heights' Ample Hills Creamery to drink options at Lot 2 in Park Slope/Gowanus and Brooklyn Flea finds and fashion at French Garment Cleaners Co. in Fort Greene.

FREEHOLD, an innovative new 10,000-square-foot-space, will host the Meet the Architects reception as the venue’s first-ever event, where attendees can get a firsthand idea of the changing nature of Brooklyn’s residential neighborhoods straight from the local players themselves.
Tickets and maps for the self-guided Brooklyn Home Tours can be picked up at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint, at 72 Noble Street, starting at 9:30 a.m. on May 9. (Note that ticket pick-up is only available the morning of the tour.) The Brooklyn Home Tours ticket is $125 and includes entry to Meet the Architects Night. Entry for just the Meet the Architects event, which will be held at FREEHOLD’s 45 South 3rd Street, Brooklyn location, is $25.
