This January, New York's social event of the season, the Winter Antiques Show, will host a "Meet the Designers" reception with New York-based interior designers as part of its annual Young Collectors Night event.
Architects and designers will also participate in this year's show through the Expert Eye series, which features lectures and book signings including Thomas Jayne's The Finest Rooms in America, Pauline C. Metcalf's Syrie Maugham, and Peter Pennoyer's Peter Pennoyer Architects.
Many of the booths this year will be created around a theme or inspiration. Portrait miniature specialist Elle Shushan's booth will be inspired by the portico of one of Charleston's most famous houses. Hans P. Kraus, Jr. Fine Photographs will re-create a 19th century portrait photography studio, including a camera and backdrop. Gerald Peters Gallery will feature works by members of The Cornish Colony, including Thomas Wilmer Dewing, Augustus St. Gaudens and Dennis Miller Bunker.

The 2011 loan exhibition is entitled Grandeur Preserved: Masterworks Presented by Historic Charleston Foundation and highlights more than 50 objects among Charleston's leading cultural institutions as well as private collections. The exhibition has been organized by Historic Charleston Foundation, established in 1947 as an educational non-profit dedicated to the preservation of buildings, landscapes and cultural resources in Charleston and its historic surroundings.
Important objects from Historic Charleston Foundation's two museum houses will be complemented with loans from The Charleston Museum, Drayton Hall, Gibbes Museum of Art/Carolina Art Association, and Middleton Place Foundation, and include many works that will be on view for the first time. A five-part lecture series related to the loan exhibition will be presented during the Show.

The Show's Honorary Co-Chairs are Dan and Cynthia Lufkin, patrons of the arts, and the Chair of the Opening Night Party on Thursday, January 20th is Sallie Krawcheck, President of Global Wealth and Investment Management, Bank of America.
The 2011 Special Guest Lecturer is Vanessa Remington, Assistant Curator of Paintings at the Royal Collection, on the 19th-century portrait miniature collection of Queen Victoria.
