Taigan and Garden and Gun magazine, celebrate the "Made in the South" award winners and the rich cultural tradition of craft, design and ingenuity in small, Southern-based businesses. Winners in five categories range from the authentic goodness of home-made pies to finely crafted bamboo fly fishing rods, to custom-made guitars and ukuleles and beyond.
Garden and Gun
assembled a prestigious panel of judges including Taigan Creative Director and Garden and Gun contributor Julia Reed, James Beard Award-winning chef Robert Stehling, Design*Sponge founder Grace Bonney, and G&G contributor and avid sportsman Donovan Webster.
"Garden & Gun's "Made in the South" awards celebrate what I've always loved about the South—its tradition of artisanal products made with great passion and originality," said  Reed.
Taigan will build a virtual shop for winning designers and their wares, making them available for purchase through January 18th, 2011. Categories included Food, Home, Style, Sporting, and Etc. Former homebuilder Jay Lichty from Tryon, North Carolina, was the overall "Made in the South" winner in the Etc. Category.
